Roskilde Museum is included on the Discover card, not Hop. It opens every day from June to October, and pairs with the Cathedral and the Viking Ship Museum on one trip.
The Discover card covers the museum and the train out to Roskilde. There is no admission price on this page, because the museum does not publish one.
The town's own story, told in the town it happened in — a Viking settlement that became the Danish capital and then stopped being it. Allow an hour.
The cathedral tells you about the monarchy and the ship museum tells you about the Vikings. This is the one that tells you about the town itself, which is what connects the two and is otherwise the missing hour of a Roskilde day.
The standard Roskilde day is the cathedral at the top of the hill and the Viking ships at the bottom, twenty minutes apart on foot. The museum is on that walk, so adding it costs the time it takes rather than a detour.
This is a town museum rather than a national one and it is honest about its own scale. An hour covers it, which is exactly what a day already holding two larger venues has room for.
Two things to check before you travel: the season, and the fact that this page carries no price. Hours confirmed against the card issuer's own listing and roskildemuseum.dk.
Roskilde is 26 minutes west of Copenhagen by train, and the museum is ten minutes from the station. All of it is on the Discover card.
All three are included on the same card, so the only cost of adding them is the time. For the full list, see every attraction the Copenhagen Card covers.
The burial church of the Danish monarchy since the fifteenth century — forty kings and queens, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Five original eleventh-century Viking ships raised from the fjord, with a boatyard building sailable reconstructions beside them.
The museum at Lejre, in the landscape the Danish kings came from before Roskilde existed.
The Discover card includes the museum and the 26-minute train from Copenhagen, along with 80+ more attractions and unlimited public transport across the Capital Region. The cathedral and the Viking ships are both on the same card and the same walk.
The Copenhagen Card Discover covers entry, and the train out to Roskilde with it. The museum does not publish an adult admission price and no source we could check carries one, so this page states no figure. The Hop card excludes Roskilde entirely — it does not cover day trips.
Roskilde Museum opens every day of the week including Mondays, from 5 June to 18 October 2026, 10am to 4pm. Winter hours are not published, so check before travelling outside that season rather than assuming it is open.
Nothing needs booking. Show the QR code in the Copenhagen Card app at the desk and walk in. The train to Roskilde is covered on the same card, so there is nothing to buy at either end of the journey.
One scan per attraction applies, so this is a single visit per card. It takes about an hour, and it sits on the walk between the cathedral and the Viking Ship Museum, so most people fit all three into one day.
Show the live QR code in the Copenhagen Card app at the entrance and let staff scan it. Your booking confirmation email is not your card, and a screenshot of the QR code will not scan — it has to be the app itself, which works offline once activated.
