Roskilde Cathedral is included on the Discover card, not Hop. Adult entry is €9 (70 DKK) without one. It opens Monday to Saturday, and Sunday afternoons.
The Discover card covers the ticketed part of the cathedral and the train out. Part of the building costs nothing to anybody, and it is worth knowing which.
The burial church of the Danish monarchy since the fifteenth century, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Allow an hour.
Danish kings and queens have been buried here for over five hundred years, and the chapels were built outward from the church as each dynasty needed room. Walking them in order is walking the monarchy in order, which no other building in Denmark offers.
Each royal chapel was built in the style of its century, so the building records changing taste as plainly as it records the dead. The brick Gothic core is the oldest of its kind in Scandinavia.
Entry includes a 48-page guide in six languages. It is unusual for a venue to hand over something that substantial at the door, and it makes the visit work without a tour.
Which part of the building is ticketed, when it opens, and why it pairs with one particular neighbour. Confirmed against roskildedomkirke.dk.
Roskilde is 26 minutes west of Copenhagen by train, and the cathedral is 15 minutes up from the station. All of it is on the Discover card.
It covers Roskilde Cathedral along with 80+ other attractions and all public transport.
The cathedral sells its own ticket at the door for €9, with nothing to book ahead. What is bookable is the full-day minibus tour that takes in Kronborg, Frederiksborg and the Viking Ship Museum as well, with a guide and hotel pickup. The card covers all four — €67 at the doors — and the trains there, for less. You are paying for the guide and the driving.
All three are included on the same card, so the only cost of adding them is the time. For the full list, see every attraction the Copenhagen Card covers.
Five original eleventh-century Viking ships raised from the fjord, with a boatyard building sailable reconstructions beside them.
Roskilde's own history, on the walk between the cathedral and the fjord.
A reconstructed Iron Age and Viking landscape west of Roskilde, worked by people living the period rather than displayed behind glass.
Entry is €9 per adult (70 DKK) without a card, guidebook included, and the train from Copenhagen is covered too. The Discover card includes both, along with 80+ more attractions.
Entry is free on the Copenhagen Card Discover, covering the royal tombs, the chapels, the museum and the gallery, plus the 48-page guidebook. Adult admission without a card is €9 (70 DKK). The Hop card does not include it — Roskilde is a day trip.
Roskilde Cathedral opens Monday to Saturday all year, which makes it one of the few card venues a Monday trip can be built around. Hours run 10am to 6pm in high summer, 10am to 5pm in May and September, and 10am to 4pm from October to April. Sundays open at 1pm.
Nothing needs booking. Show the QR code in the Copenhagen Card app at the desk and walk in. The train to Roskilde is covered on the same card, so there is nothing to buy at either end.
One scan per attraction applies, so this is a single visit per card. The Viking Ship Museum down the hill counts as its own attraction and its own scan, which is what makes Roskilde a full day rather than a stop.
Show the live QR code in the Copenhagen Card app at the entrance and let staff scan it. Your booking confirmation email is not your card, and a screenshot of the QR code will not scan — it has to be the app itself, which works offline once activated.
