Lejre Land of Legends is included on the Discover card, not Hop. Adult entry is €30 (225 DKK) without one, second only to the Zoo among card attractions.
The Discover card covers the whole site and the journey out. At this price that is one of the largest single savings on the card — and there is one way the card is worse than a ticket, which is worth knowing first.
Forty-three hectares of reconstructed settlements worked by people living the period, near Roskilde. Allow a full half day.
Stone Age, Iron Age, Viking Age and a nineteenth-century farm, each built as a working settlement rather than a display. Walking between them is walking several thousand years in an afternoon, which no indoor museum can do.
Weaving, pottery and a working forge, staffed by people doing the work rather than describing it. The livestock are bred back towards Iron Age breeds, so even the animals in the fields are part of the reconstruction.
Children can sail a dugout canoe and shoot a bow, which is the reason this holds a family for half a day where a museum holds them for an hour. Founded in 1964, so it has had sixty years to get that right.
One genuine catch with the card, and one thing to check before you travel. Confirmed against sagnlandet.dk.
About 50 minutes west of Copenhagen — train to Lejre, then a bus. All of it is on the Discover card.
All three are included on the same card, so the only cost of adding them is the time. For the full list, see every attraction the Copenhagen Card covers.
The museum in Lejre village, home of the Odin from Lejre — a one-of-a-kind Viking Age silver figurine.
The burial church of the Danish monarchy since the fifteenth century — forty kings and queens, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Five original eleventh-century Viking ships raised from the fjord, with a working boatyard beside them.
Entry is €30 per adult (225 DKK) without a card, and children 3–11 pay 160 DKK. The Discover card includes it and the journey, along with 80+ more attractions and unlimited public transport.
Entry is free on the Copenhagen Card Discover, covering the whole 43-hectare site and the train and bus out. Adult admission without a card is €30 (225 DKK) and children 3–11 pay 160 DKK. The Hop card excludes it — Lejre is a day trip.
The Monday rule is not published anywhere we can check, so this page does not claim it either way. The season matters more: the site opens in season only, so check sagnlandet.dk before travelling rather than assuming it is open.
Nothing needs booking. Show the QR code in the Copenhagen Card app at the gate and walk in. Allow a full half day once you are there — the site is large and the workshops are where people stop.
One scan per attraction applies, so the card buys a single visit. A paid ticket here is unusual in being valid for the rest of the calendar year, so anyone planning to return twice in one year is better off buying one.
Show the live QR code in the Copenhagen Card app at the entrance and let staff scan it. Your booking confirmation email is not your card, and a screenshot of the QR code will not scan — it has to be the app itself, which works offline once activated.
