What the Copenhagen Card covers at Ordrupgaard

The card covers the museum. The Finn Juhl House next to it does not come with that ticket, and this is the thing to get straight before you go.

Copenhagen Card

Inside

What to see at Ordrupgaard

A country house north of Copenhagen holding one of the better French collections in Scandinavia, with a sculpture park in the grounds and a designer's own home next door. Allow two hours.

Highlight 1
The French collection

Wilhelm Hansen bought French nineteenth-century painting when few Danes were, and the result is a collection that would be notable in a much larger city. The Danish rooms alongside it make the comparison the house was built to invite.

Highlight 2
The Finn Juhl House

The designer built the house for himself in 1942 and it survives with his furniture in place, a short walk from the galleries. It is a separate 75 DKK ticket rather than part of admission, and the card does not cover it — but it is the reason a lot of people make this trip, so budget for it rather than skipping it.

Highlight 3
The art park

Work placed through the grounds, and open to all visitors rather than sitting behind the house ticket. In good weather it turns the visit from a gallery trip into an afternoon.

Before you visit

Read before you go

What the card ticket actually opens, and one thing to check before you commit the journey. Confirmed against ordrupgaard.dk and the 2026 Copenhagen museums folder.

The Finn Juhl House is a separate 75 DKK ticket
  • The card covers the museum. It does not cover the house. Entry to the Finn Juhl House is 75 DKK on top, bought separately, and children need a ticket too on weekdays.
  • Tuesday to Friday the house can only be seen on a guided tour, which runs about 45 minutes. There is no walking in on your own on those days, so it has to be booked around rather than added on a whim.
  • At weekends it is self-guided, 11am to 5pm, and children go free with an adult. If the house is the reason you are coming, a weekend visit costs less and needs no tour slot.
  • The art park is open to all visitors — it is in the grounds, not behind the house ticket.
The opening hours are not fixed — check before travelling
  • Ordrupgaard’s hours vary, and the Monday rule is not stated in the 2026 museums folder.
  • We have not been able to establish whether it closes on Mondays, so this page does not say it does and does not say it does not. That is why there is no Mondays figure in the bar above.
  • Check ordrupgaard.dk on the day. This is a 30-minute train plus a bus each way — the one trip on the card where turning up to a locked door costs you a whole afternoon.
What it costs without a card
  • Adult museum admission is €19 (140 DKK); students pay 95 DKK and under-18s are free. That is the figure the card removes.
  • Add 75 DKK per person for the Finn Juhl House, card or no card, if you want to see it.
  • Book the house ahead for a weekday visit — guided access only from Tuesday to Friday, and the tours are booked online in advance.
Discover only, and the journey is why
  • Ordrupgaard is not on the Hop card. Charlottenlund is outside the city and the Hop card excludes day trips.
  • On Discover the train and bus 388 are both covered, so the trip costs nothing beyond the card.
  • That makes the gap between the cards wider here than the admission price alone — see what each card covers on public transport.
Getting there

How to get to Ordrupgaard

Charlottenlund, about 30 minutes north of Copenhagen by train and then a bus. The whole journey is on the Discover card.

Copenhagen Card
Discover card
✓ Train to Klampenborg or Lyngby, then bus 388 to the museum. Both covered.
✓ About 30 minutes in total from Copenhagen Central, plus the wait for the bus.
✓ Bus 388 runs along the coast road and stops close to the gate.
✓ From the airport — train to Copenhagen Central, then north. All covered on Discover.
Copenhagen Card
Hop card
✗ Ordrupgaard is not included on the Hop card — neither the entry nor the journey.
✗ The hop-on hop-off routes stay inside the city and do not reach Charlottenlund.
✗ If Ordrupgaard matters to your trip, Discover is the card that covers it.
The coast road museums
  • The Karen Blixen Museum is further up the same coast at Rungsted, and also Discover-only.
  • Experimentarium is back towards the city at Hellerup, and opens every day of the year.
  • The Nivaagaard Collection is beyond Rungsted — three coastal galleries make a long but workable day on one card.

Common questions

Ordrupgaard — card FAQ

Is Ordrupgaard included with the Copenhagen Card?

Museum entry is free on the Copenhagen Card Discover, covering the collection and the art park. The Finn Juhl House is not included — it is a separate 75 DKK ticket. Adult admission without a card is €19 (140 DKK). The Hop card excludes day trips.

Is Ordrupgaard open on Mondays?

Ordrupgaard’s opening hours vary and the Monday rule is not stated in the 2026 museums folder, so we cannot confirm it either way. Check ordrupgaard.dk before travelling — this is a 30-minute train plus a bus, and a closed door costs a whole afternoon.

Do I need to book Ordrupgaard in advance with the Copenhagen Card?

Museum admission needs no booking — show the QR code in the Copenhagen Card app at the desk. The Finn Juhl House is different: Tuesday to Friday it is guided access only, booked online in advance, and it is a separate ticket the card does not cover.

Can I visit Ordrupgaard twice on the same Copenhagen Card?

One scan per attraction applies, so the museum is a single visit per card. The Finn Juhl House sits outside that scan entirely — it is a 75 DKK ticket bought on the day or booked ahead, whether or not you hold a card.

How do I get into Ordrupgaard with the Copenhagen Card?

Show the live QR code in the Copenhagen Card app at the entrance and let staff scan it. Your booking confirmation email is not your card, and a screenshot of the QR code will not scan — it has to be the app itself, which works offline once activated.
