The Karen Blixen Museum is included on the Discover card, not Hop. Adult entry is €13 (100 DKK) without one, and it is closed on Mondays.
The Discover card covers the house, the grounds and the train that gets you there.
The house Karen Blixen was born in, returned to from Africa and wrote Out of Africa in, on the coast north of Copenhagen. Allow an hour and a half.
Rungstedlund is presented as a home rather than a display — her study, the objects she brought back from Kenya, the desk the books were written at. The effect depends entirely on the house being real, and it is.
The grounds are a bird sanctuary she established, and she is buried in them under a beech tree at the foot of Ewald’s Hill. Both are inside the ticket and both are worth the walk.
Rungsted Kyst is on the Øresund, ten minutes from the water. The train from Copenhagen runs along the same coast that Louisiana and the Nivaagaard Collection sit on, which is what makes a day of it possible.
The opening hours here are unusual enough to change how you build the day. Confirmed against blixen.dk and the 2026 Copenhagen museums folder.
Rungsted Kyst, 35 minutes up the coast from Copenhagen. The whole journey is on the Discover card.
All three are included on the same card, so the only cost of adding them is the time. For the full list, see every attraction the Copenhagen Card covers.
Old masters and Danish Golden Age painting in a purpose-built gallery at Nivå, with unusually late midweek opening.
Modern art in a series of pavilions running down to the Øresund, with a sculpture park and a view across to Sweden.
French and Danish painting at Charlottenlund, with an art park in the grounds and the Finn Juhl House next door on its own ticket.
Entry is €13 per adult (100 DKK) without a card, and the coast train is covered too. The Discover card includes both, along with 80+ more attractions and unlimited public transport across the Capital Region.
Entry is free on the Copenhagen Card Discover, covering the house, the grounds and the bird sanctuary. Adult admission without a card is €13 (100 DKK); under-27s pay 60 DKK. The Hop card does not include it — Rungsted is a day trip.
The museum closes every Monday. It opens Tuesday to Thursday from 11am to 9pm and Friday to Sunday from 11am to 5pm — that late midweek closing is unusual for a house museum and makes an evening visit genuinely possible.
Nothing needs booking. Show the QR code in the Copenhagen Card app at the desk and walk in. The train to Rungsted Kyst is covered on the same card, so there is no ticket to buy at either end.
One scan per attraction applies, so this is a single visit per card. Given it is 35 minutes each way on the coast line, most people pair it with Louisiana or the Nivaagaard Collection on the same journey rather than returning.
Show the live QR code in the Copenhagen Card app at the entrance and let staff scan it. Your booking confirmation email is not your card, and a screenshot of the QR code will not scan — it has to be the app itself, which works offline once activated.
