What the Copenhagen Card covers at IKONO

Both cards cover entry in full. One thing to say first: IKONO does not publish an adult admission price, so this page carries no figure for what you would otherwise have paid — the section below explains why.

Copenhagen Card
What's included
Discover & Hop
✓ All twelve rooms — the whole circuit is one admission
✓ Included on both cards — Discover and Hop alike
✓ Your timed entry slot, which is part of admission rather than an extra
At your own cost
Not included
Both cards
✗ Food and drink, here as everywhere — the card is an attractions and transport product with no dining component
✗ A second visit. One scan per attraction, so the card opens this door once
Inside

What to see at IKONO

Twelve rooms built as environments to walk into rather than exhibits to look at. About an hour, three minutes from Nørreport.

Highlight 1
Rooms rather than exhibits

Each space is a built environment you walk into and move through — there is no glass, no captions and nothing to read. Drawing with light using your hands, an eighties arcade, a lantern room built for slowing down, a mirrored room holding 99 silver balloons, a ball pit sized for adults. What you do here is walk, look and photograph, which is a different proposition from the museums around it.

Highlight 2
An hour, start to finish

The whole circuit takes about an hour. That makes it usable as the thing you do between two bigger visits rather than a destination in its own right, and it is small enough that a card holder loses nothing by treating it that way.

Highlight 3
Three minutes from Nørreport

Frederiksborggade 5, immediately off the busiest interchange in Denmark. Rosenborg is a seven-minute walk in one direction and Strøget starts a few minutes in the other, so it slots into a day already happening around it.

Before you visit

What this page cannot tell you, what the hours are, and where it fits in a day. Hours and address confirmed against ikono.org.

IKONO does not publish an admission price
  • No source gives the rate at the door. Not the venue, not the museums folder, not the card issuer. This is not a figure we have chosen to withhold — there is not one to find.
  • The booking box further down does show a price, because the ticket is resold there. That is a reseller's price rather than IKONO's own, and the two are not reliably the same thing.
  • So this page quotes no figure of its own, and IKONO is left out of our guide to how many days of card to buy and out of the break-even calculator. A venue with no published door price cannot be counted toward one.
  • Entry being included is separate, and settled. The card issuer lists IKONO on both cards. It is only the without-a-card comparison that nobody can supply.
Open every day, with a late finish at weekends
  • No Monday closure at any time of year, which is unusual enough in Copenhagen to plan around — see what is open on a Monday.
  • Summer 2026, from 29 June to 31 August: Monday to Thursday and Sunday 10am to 7pm, Friday and Saturday 10am to 8pm.
  • A timed entry slot is needed. Ask when you arrive and show the QR code in the Copenhagen Card app.
Treat it as an hour, not an afternoon
  • Twelve rooms and about an hour is the whole of it. Going in expecting a museum is the way to be disappointed by this one.
  • It suits a gap in a day rather than the middle of one — Rosenborg in the morning, IKONO after lunch, the Museum of Copenhagen or Strøget after.
  • Frederiksborggade 5, three minutes from Nørreport on foot, so the gap does not need to be a long one.
  • The common complaint is the price against the length — people who pay for a ticket often say an hour was not enough for it. On a card that argument disappears, which makes this one of the venues the card suits better than a paid ticket does.
Who it does not work for
  • The operator states it is not suitable for wheelchair users. If that applies to anyone in your group, this is one to leave off the list.
  • Prams and pushchairs are not allowed inside. With a baby you would be carrying them through twelve rooms.
  • Nothing has to be read, so language is not a barrier — the staff greet in Danish and English, and visitors say the route through the rooms is not obvious until someone points it out.
Getting there

How to get to IKONO Copenhagen

Frederiksborggade, immediately off Nørreport. Entry is on both cards; the journey is only on one of them.

Copenhagen Card
Discover card
✓ Metro M1, M2, M3 or M4 to Nørreport, then three minutes on foot. The fare is covered.
✓ S-trains and regional trains also stop at Nørreport, all covered on Discover.
✓ About 20 minutes on foot from Copenhagen Central, or three stops on the metro.
✓ From the airport — M2 to Kongens Nytorv then M1 or M3 to Nørreport, about 20 minutes and covered.
Copenhagen Card
Hop card
✓ Entry is included on the Hop card — IKONO is covered by both.
✓ The hop-on hop-off bus stops at Nørreport, three minutes away.
✗ The metro, S-trains and city buses are not covered on the Hop card, so an airport arrival is a separate ticket.
The Nørreport cluster
  • Rosenborg Castle is seven minutes away through the King’s Garden, with the crown jewels in the basement.
  • The Workers Museum is five minutes away and opens every day, Mondays included.
  • Strøget and the Museum of Copenhagen are both a short walk south, which makes this an easy afternoon on foot.

Common questions

IKONO Copenhagen — card FAQ

Is IKONO Copenhagen included with the Copenhagen Card?

Entry is included on both the Discover and Hop cards, covering all twelve rooms. IKONO does not publish an adult admission price and no source we could check carries one, so this page quotes no figure — but the card coverage itself is confirmed.

Is IKONO Copenhagen open on Mondays?

IKONO opens every day of the week, Mondays included, so it is one of the venues a Monday in Copenhagen can be built around. In summer 2026 it runs 10am to 7pm Monday to Thursday and Sunday, and to 8pm on Friday and Saturday.

Do I need to book IKONO Copenhagen in advance with the Copenhagen Card?

A timed entry slot is needed. Ask for one when you arrive and show the QR code in the Copenhagen Card app — there is nothing to book in advance and nothing to pay at the door.

Can I visit IKONO Copenhagen twice on the same Copenhagen Card?

One scan per attraction applies, so this is a single visit per card. The whole circuit takes about an hour, so it works best slotted into a day around a larger visit rather than returned to.

How do I get into IKONO Copenhagen with the Copenhagen Card?

Show the live QR code in the Copenhagen Card app at the entrance and let staff scan it. Your booking confirmation email is not your card, and a screenshot of the QR code will not scan — it has to be the app itself, which works offline once activated.
