Three silver coronation thrones guarded by silver lions cast in the 1660s, under a ceiling of stucco reliefs. The grandest room in the building and the one the castle was arranged around.
Denmark's oldest royal garden, laid out around the castle and free to everyone with no ticket. It is where the Changing of the Guard forms up, and the obvious place to wait if your slot is later than you hoped.

Monday opening is seasonal: Rosenborg opens every day in summer and closes on Mondays in winter. Frederiksborg Castle, also on the card, opens every day of the year and is the reliable winter-Monday alternative.
A timed slot is required, and card holders cannot book one online — that is the catch here. Present the QR code in the app at the ticket desk and request a slot on arrival. Peak-season slots sell out, so arrive at opening time in summer.
One scan per attraction is the rule on every card type, so Rosenborg Castle can be visited once. Leaving and coming back the same day means buying a separate ticket at the door. Plan the visit as a single stretch rather than splitting it across a day.
Show the live QR code in the Copenhagen Card app at the ticket desk and ask for a time slot. Your booking confirmation email is not your card. If the next slot is a while off, SMK is five minutes across the King's Garden and needs no slot at all.
