The Card

What the Copenhagen Card covers at the Museum of Illusions

Both cards cover full entry. One thing to say first: the museum does not publish an adult admission price, so this page carries no figure for what you would otherwise have paid — the section below explains why.

Copenhagen Card
What's included
Discover & Hop
✓ All 70-plus exhibits, which is the whole museum — there is nothing inside sold separately
✓ The walk-in illusion rooms as well as the smaller displays
✓ Included on both cards — Discover and Hop alike
✓ Your timed entry slot, collected at the door rather than bought
At your own cost
Not included
Both cards
✗ Food and drink, here as everywhere — the card is an attractions and transport product with no dining component
✗ A second visit. One scan per attraction, so the card opens this door once
Inside

What to see at the Museum of Illusions

A single floor of perception tricks on Strøget, built to be walked through rather than read. Allow an hour, or two with children.

Highlight 1
The rooms you stand inside

The set pieces here are rooms rather than displays — spaces built so that what your eyes report and what your body reports disagree. They work on you rather than in front of you, which is why this holds children who are finished with museums.

Highlight 2
Seventy-plus exhibits in one hour

The whole thing is one circuit and most visitors are through it in an hour. That density is the point: it fits into an evening rather than needing an afternoon, and nothing in it requires reading a caption to understand.

Highlight 3
The one card venue still open at 9pm

Copenhagen closes early. Almost every museum on the card is shut by 6pm, a handful run to 8 or 9 on one night of the week, and this one runs to 10pm every night. It is the difference between an evening spent walking and an evening spent somewhere.

Before you visit

Read before you go

One thing this page cannot tell you and one thing no other card venue can match. Hours and address confirmed against moicopenhagen.com.

The museum does not publish an admission price
  • There is no adult rate we are willing to print. The museum has given two different ceilings for it in two different statements, and visitors report a third figure again. Three answers is not a price.
  • Every other figure on this site is a verified door price, checked against the venue or the 2026 museums folder. Rather than break that here, this page carries no price at all — and the venue is left out of our is-it-worth-it calculator for the same reason.
  • That does not affect what the card does. Entry is included on both cards, which the card issuer states plainly. It is only the counterfactual — what you would have paid — that nobody can pin down.
Open until 10pm, every day of the year
  • 10am to 10pm, seven days a week. No Monday closure and no seasonal break.
  • That is the latest closing of any attraction on the card, by a clear margin. On a day when the museums shut at five, this is what is left — and on a Monday, when half the city is closed all day, it is one of the reliable options.
  • Frederiksberggade 24, at the Rådhuspladsen end of Strøget, so it is on the walk back from almost anywhere in the centre.
You need a time slot, and you get it at the door
  • Entry is by timed slot. Card holders collect one at the entrance rather than booking online, so arriving is the booking.
  • At busy times that can mean a wait for the next slot, which on a venue open until 10pm is easier to absorb than most — come back in an hour rather than losing the visit.
  • Allow an hour, or nearer two with children. It works well as the last stop of a family day, which is worked through in our guide to the card with children.
Getting there

How to get to the Museum of Illusions

On Strøget at the Rådhuspladsen end, five minutes from Copenhagen Central on foot. Entry is on both cards; only one of them covers the journey.

Copenhagen Card
Discover card
✓ Metro M3 or M4 to Rådhuspladsen, then two minutes on foot. Covered.
✓ Five minutes on foot from Copenhagen Central, straight up Vesterbrogade.
✓ Metro to Nørreport and the length of Strøget on foot, if you are coming from the north.
✓ From the airport — M2 to Nørreport or the train to Copenhagen Central, both covered on Discover.
Copenhagen Card
Hop card
✓ Entry is included on the Hop card — the museum is covered by both.
✓ The hop-on hop-off bus stops at Rådhuspladsen, two minutes away.
✗ The metro, S-trains and city buses are not covered on the Hop card, so an airport arrival is a separate ticket.
Four card venues within five minutes
  • Ripley’s and the H.C. Andersen Experience are at Rådhuspladsen itself, inside the metro station entrance.
  • Tivoli is across the square, and its gardens run late into the evening in season.
  • The National Museum is ten minutes the other way, and shuts at five like everything else.

Nearby attractions also on your card

All three are included on the same card, so the only cost of adding them is the time. For the full list, see every attraction the Copenhagen Card covers.

Common questions

Museum of Illusions — card FAQ

Is Museum of Illusions included with the Copenhagen Card?

Full entry is included on both the Discover and Hop cards, covering all 70-plus exhibits. The museum does not publish an adult admission price and the figures it has quoted disagree with each other, so this page states none — but the card coverage itself is not in doubt.

Is Museum of Illusions open on Mondays?

The Museum of Illusions opens every day of the year, Mondays included, from 10am to 10pm. There is no Monday closure and no seasonal break, which puts it in the small group of card venues a Monday visit can be built around.

Do I need to book Museum of Illusions in advance with the Copenhagen Card?

Entry is by timed slot, and card holders collect one at the entrance rather than booking online. Show the QR code in the Copenhagen Card app when you arrive. At busy times you may be given a later slot, which a 10pm closing makes easy to work around.

Can I visit Museum of Illusions twice on the same Copenhagen Card?

One scan per attraction applies, so this is a single visit per card. An hour covers the whole circuit, or nearer two with children, so there is little reason to split it across two days.

How do I get into Museum of Illusions with the Copenhagen Card?

Show the live QR code in the Copenhagen Card app at the entrance and let staff scan it. Your booking confirmation email is not your card, and a screenshot of the QR code will not scan — it has to be the app itself, which works offline once activated.
