The M/S Maritime Museum is included on the Discover card, not Hop. It sits in a dry dock beside Kronborg in Helsingør, and under-18s go free.
The Discover card covers the museum and the train up to Helsingør. It publishes no adult admission price, which is worth explaining before anything else.
A museum with no building above ground, wrapped around an empty dry dock beside Kronborg. Allow an hour and a half.
Bjarke Ingels Group put the galleries underground around a disused dry dock and left the dock itself empty. You walk around and across a void the size of a ship, which is a stranger and better idea than filling it would have been.
The collection dates from 1915 and moved into this building in 2013. Denmark’s maritime history is the reason the country looks the way it does, and this is the museum that takes it seriously rather than as a room in a larger story.
There is an indoor playground inside the museum, and under-18s are free. Between that and Kronborg’s casemates next door, Helsingør handles a family better than most day trips on the card.
One thing we have tried twice to establish and could not, and one that makes the trip worth the train. Details confirmed against mfs.dk and VisitCopenhagen.
Helsingør is 46 minutes north of Copenhagen by train, and the museum is beside Kronborg on the harbour. All of it is on the Discover card.
All three are included on the same card, so the only cost of adding them is the time. For the full list, see every attraction the Copenhagen Card covers.
Hamlet's castle on the point where the Øresund narrows — a UNESCO World Heritage Site with casemates beneath it.
A saltwater aquarium of Øresund marine life, with touch pools for children and, unusually, for adults.
Aircraft, cars and the history of Danish engineering in a large hall on the edge of Helsingør.
The Discover card includes the museum and the 46-minute train from Copenhagen, along with 80+ more attractions and unlimited public transport across the Capital Region. Under-18s go free.
The Copenhagen Card Discover covers entry, and the train to Helsingør with it. Under-18s are free regardless of the card. The museum publishes no adult admission price we could read — mfs.dk renders it in JavaScript — so this page states no figure. The Hop card excludes Helsingør.
The Monday rule is not published anywhere we can check, so this page does not claim it either way. Check mfs.dk before travelling, since Helsingør is 46 minutes each way. Kronborg next door opens Mondays May to October and closes them the rest of the year.
Nothing needs booking. Show the QR code in the Copenhagen Card app at the desk and walk in. The train to Helsingør is covered on the same card, so there is nothing to buy at either end of the journey.
One scan per attraction applies, so this is a single visit per card. Kronborg, the Øresund Aquarium and the Science & Technology museum each count as their own attraction and their own scan, which is what makes Helsingør a full day.
Show the live QR code in the Copenhagen Card app at the entrance and let staff scan it. Your booking confirmation email is not your card, and a screenshot of the QR code will not scan — it has to be the app itself, which works offline once activated.
